Topocad recommendations

“It is very convenient and flexible software for surveyors in any kind of geodetic works.”

I know Topocad from it’s first release in the middle of  90th. It is very convenient and flexible software for surveyors in any kind of geodetic works. I strongly recommend it  for professionals in surveying, geodetic works on construction site, cadastre etc.

“Whether it is data transfer to or from a total station or GPS controller, or a full topographic survey and design project, there is a Topocad module or package to meet your requirements.”

I regularly use the Topocad Engineer module to transfer data from a design cad drawing into my total station for setting out points. Then download the as-built survey to check against the design as part of my quality control procedure. For a full topographic survey I use the Base Survey module as this has all the functionality I need to create a survey through coding (all definable), editing and cad drawing. It is them easy to create a digital terrain model (dtm) and contours before exporting the drawing in various formats, or send it to a printer/plotter. Should the client require earthwork volumes, there are two options. The Volume Model module calculates the volume between two defined terrain models, or between a terrain surface and a formation level; alternatively the Volume Cross Section module creates sections and uses these to calculate volumes. The latter is particularly suited to road or rail survey/design.

Topocad also offers a number of specialist modules – Net Adjustment, Tunnelling, Point Cloud, and Database Adapter for GIS data transfer – to cover the needs of most mapping software users.
